The MSK modulator is based on the PXI technology of National Instruments. The PXIe-1062Q chassis
offers up to 8 slots (4x PXI, 2x Hybrid, 1x PXI Express System-Timing), which can be synchronized via
an external time signal. The MSK modulator supports the transmission of precise time signals that can
be used for Ranging measurements (R-Mode).
The Alberding BeaconSite Control and the Modulator Control software run on a PXIe-8821 embedded controller
with an Intel Core i3 processor and a Windows operating system. The controller has a 10/100/1000 BASE-TX
Ethernet port, two high-speed USB ports, two USB 3.0 ports, a serial interface and an integrated hard disk.
The MSK modulation takes place via up to two integrated PXI-FPGA modules and the analog output to the
transmitter via a transceiver board. A query and switching of the transmitter is possible via the TX Control
Software with the help of digital and analog I/O boards.
